These are
desirable hard to find trucks. This one is a 1988 Chevy 1 ton crew cab
dually 4x4. It is Rustfree from the west coast, and only shows 77k on
the odometer. This is a fully loaded Silverado. I has a rebuilt
454. It was rebuilt by a performance shop out in Washington state.
It was built for torque, and towing, not racing. It still has the
factory fuel injection on an aluminum intake. Now here is the best
part, it has a 5 speed manual with overdrive.
The
overdrive makes it real nice on the open road.
GM never offered a manual with overdrive in this body style. It has a
pretty straight body. The pass side dually flair is cracked in the
rear, and the back door on the drivers side has some cracking in the the
body filler. The bed floor has some extra holes from a hitch at some
point, but is totally rustfree. For being almost 30 years old she is
still pretty straight.
The
paint is faded, and has its share of chips, but would probably buff up some
if a guy cared to. As it sits it has a nice clean look.
The truck
is a nice driver. I just installed new fully welded dual exhaust at a
cost of $400. Again, it is a fully loaded Silverado with
A/C, PW, PDL, Tilt, Cruise,
Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear, 208 TCase, dual tanks, etc. It also has a
class III receiver style hitch. This truck hasn't been cut on or
worked to death.
The AC is
totally intact, but there is no belt on the compressor. The clutch on the
compressor and the compressor are free and seem to be fine. I didn’t notice
the belt wasn’t on until I was taking the pics, or I would have put a new
belt on.
Finally,
the interior is clean. It has a Flextsteel front seat with recline,
and a center console with drink holders. Sure beats the stock front
bench seat. These trucks are very sought after and getting harder and
harder for me to find. It sure beats 60k plus for a new one.
If this is the one for you, don't
drag your feet. I have people calling weekly for crew cab 1 ton 4x4's. |
