This is a desirable 1978 F150
short bed 4x4. The short beds are tough to find. Plus this on has the
hard to find 300 six cylinder. As usual for my vehicles it came from
California, but in this case, it has an Oregon title. It is 99.9 %
rustfree. It has some surface rust on the floor where the carpet was,
and a single hole on the pass side floor less than the diameter of a pen.
It almost looks more like a puncture. Other than that the floors are
rock solid, as is the rest of the body. As for the body, it is quite
straight, with only minor dents, and dings. Even the bed floor, and
upper bed rails are straight. This is a nice basic 4x4 with the 300
six cylinder, 4 speed, power steering, and power disc brakes. It also
has the bullet proof 205 transfer case, and the Dana 44 front axle. It
has a drivable 3.50 axle ration, and rides on excellent 33x12.5x15 tires.
It also has solid dual exhaust with Flowmasters. The engine has an
aftermarket aluminum intake, and header. Also, the engine has a knock
that is worse when cold. I have been told that it is probably a piston
wrist pin, and that is very typically for the 300 six cylinders to do that.
I have put over 100 miles on it, and pulled a trailer, and it hasn't gotten
any worse. This 4x4 also need carpet. It drives nice but needs
the clutch adjusted. It grabs as soon as you come off the floor.
Overall
this is a nice clean truck. It is very presentable as it is, but a
truck this rare deserves a full restoration.
