1979 F250 4x4.
The 70's Ford 4x4's are all but gone. I'm really struggling to
come up with anything. This one is pretty straight exterior and features a 99.99% rustfree
California body. As you can see the paint is well baked by the
California sun. This truck has the "Ranger" trim package,
and the heavy duty "Trailering Special" package. The
Trailering Special package is primarily a
heavy duty suspension and towing package. It includes front and rear anti sway bars, extra fluid coolers, bigger brakes,
etc. This is a nice running and driving 4x4.
The 400 engine was rebuilt and C6 automatic shifts fine. We also
installed a new carburetor. Other options
include: power steering, power disc brakes, dual fuel tanks, but no
rear tank, factory cab lights, inside hood release, etc.
It also has a class III tow hitch. These Fords came with good heavy
duty suspension that consisted of a high pinion Dana 44 front axle, the bullet proof NP205
transfercase, and a limited slip Dana 60 rear axle with 3.54 gears.
This truck has a mild lift,
and 315/75/16 tires to give it that desired Highboy stance. The
78 and 79 trucks sat lower than the earlier 4x4's and need a little lift to
look right.
The
interior is complete and has a nice sounding Kenwood CD system. The
red trim around the gauges, and door panels was a factory option in 79. At some point years ago, it had a spray in
bed liner installed, but the California sun has all but baked most of it out.
This is a nice
solid turn key driver with a proud stance.
