Don't pass out, but I couldn't help
myself. I know you have come to expect clean original survivor
vehicles from Rustfree Classics, but this 1972 Highboy caught my attention
and is unbelievable. It started as an exceptional 77,XXX mile Highboy,
with the cool "Sport Custom" trim package, received a $30,000 frame off
restoration and ended up like this. This 4x4 has been nicely restored,
but not "over restored". I has been driven some since the restoration,
but obviously not used or abused. Everything is either new or
exceptionally nice original. The 360 engine was inspected, resealed,
and repainted, as were the 4 speed transmission, and transfercase. The
clutch was replaced, all the brakes, exhaust, and suspension are all new.
This Highboy features a beautiful Calypso Coral (Orange) and Wimbledon White
paint scheme, on laser straight body. As previously mentioned it has a
360 engine, 4 speed, Factory working A/C, Power Steering, Power Brakes, and
factory radio delete. It also has the rare and desirable 9.75" wide
factory wheels with excellent 33/12.5/16.5 tires. This Highboy has the
perfect look and stance.
She is an absolute pleasure to drive. The choke
works properly, and she starts up and idles like she should. Of course
the clutch feels perfect, and the exhaust sounds correct. She probably
drives better than new.
The frame off restoration was
done in 2006, and has been stored indoors since. This is a beautiful,
unbelievable driver, but not perfect. Of course, you could never get a
truck this nice for the price we are asking. If I had this 72 Highboy
as 77,xxx mile survivor, I would want $10 - $12K for starters, and the same
restoration that was $30k in 06 is probably $40 - $50K today. So in
all reality you can buy this truck for half what it would cost to have it
done yourself. Plus it is done and ready to enjoy.
The only know mechanical issue
is a slight power steering leak. It has also had a couple minor chips
professionally touched up in a few spots, but either way it is a stunning
truck at a great price. Buy this truck, take care of it, enjoy it, and
it will continue to go up in value.
As mentioned I don't typically
deal in this caliber of truck, but I truly fell in love with it, and what I
like you guys usually like as well. I truly doubt you will get another
chance to buy a truck of the quality at this price again.
Enjoy the pictures!
