1976 Ford F250.
This is the "Holy
Grail" of "Highboys". 1976 got the open knuckle axle,
and disc brakes up front.
This one is
99.9% rustfree, which is getting tough for me to even find in these early Highboys.
I call it 99.9% because it has 3 pin holes in the passengers floor pan, and
a spot under the battery tray in the inner fender. The body has some
dents, but they are all fixable. The paint is all original other than
some touch ups I did. You will notice some road rash on the lower
surfaces, and surface rust on the bed floor, none of it is cancerous, just
the result of normal use and being over 40 years old. If the body was
straighter the price would be 10 or 11k.
Mechanically this highboy runs and drives out nice.
It
features a smooth strong 460, and a 4 speed with a good clutch.
Factory it had a 360, but it was replaced with a strong smooth 460 with an
Edlebrock carb and intake. The install was done properly and looks factory.
As you guys know I have had a ton of Highboys over the years. The 360
wasn't Fords best engine. A 460 is the perfect power plant for these
4x4's. I love when I get a 73 - 79 with the 460 already installed. It
also has the desirable big Spicer hub disc brake front axle, the bullet
proof 205 transfer case and a 4.10 limited slip Dana 60 rear. It
has power steering, power disc brakes, and even still has the split rim 16
inch wheels with decent tires that ride smooth.
The interior is clean,
we did install a nicer, but new seat in it but used the stock seat tracks.
All these old 4x4's are getting
tougher for me to find, but these Highboys are all but gone. This
Highboy is a nice driver. The electric choke is even hooked up and she
starts and runs real nice cold.
