I know, have we lost our minds.
Another restored vehicle. When they pop up I just can't pass them
up. This one is a 100% rustfree 1978 Bronco "Ranger XLT" that has
a cosmetic and mechanical restoration. This Bronco was actually
too nice for a full restoration. Even the interior is completely
original with the exception of the vinyl on the front seats. The
paint is actually over 10 years old. The guy I got it from in Reno
Nevada had it professionally painted over 10 years ago, rebuilt the 400
engine, and C6 automatic, and installed the 4 inch lift. That's
where it came to a halt, and never got put it back together, and that's
where Rustfree Classics stepped in.
It is a fully loaded Ranger XLT model
with one of the rarest options, that I'll get to in a minute. It
is the Top-of-the-Line Bronco with the Ranger XLT trim. It has a
rebuilt 400 with an Edelbrock carb, intake and cam kit, rebuilt C6
automatic, PS, PDB, Tilt, Cruise,
the big desert cooler radiator, rear sliding windows,
Bucket seats,
locking hood relies, and the ultra rare passengers lighted vanity mirror
in the visor. I have sold over 500 70's Fords and this is only the
second time I have seen it. It also has a professional 4in lift
with quad front shocks. The power rear window works, and is
standard on all 78 / 79 Bronco's.
These second generation Bronco's are
the hottest item in classics 4x4's right now. One couldn't buy and
build this Bronco for $10k more than we are asking, and this one is done
and ready to enjoy. She runs and drives awesome. The body and
exterior speak for themselves. It is straight, 100% rustfree, and
all the exterior trim is either new or very nice original. When we
do one of these cosmetic and mechanical restorations, we don't want to
overdo it, so the frame and floors are still all original. Yes we
could have painted the frame and undercoated the floors, but then it
looks a little fake to me. If a person wants that look a couple
hours on a lift and your there.
It has nice 32x10.50x15 tires
on nice traditional alloy wheels. It has nice FlowMaster dual
exhaust. The brakes and suspension are all sound. These were
the last of the true heavy duty Broncos with the high pinion Dana 44
front axle, the bullet proof NP205 transfercase, and 9" rear.
This fully loaded
Bronco is a nice blend of original and updated. No it's not a
frame off $50,000 trailer queen. What it is, is a excellent turn
key driver that needs nothing but to be cruised and enjoyed. It
has that clean original look with the mild lift, upgraded engine and
exhaust, and a CD stereo. I believe it to be the perfect blend.
Enjoy the pics. Don't hesitate as I think this one won't last.
