Hard to find and desirable 1978
F150 4x4 with both the Explorer suspension package and Ranger trim package.
The Explorer package is primarily a heavy duty suspension package. It
adds heavier springs resulting in a higher 6500# GVW
rating, extra fluid coolers, a graphics package. The Ranger package
adds styling and fancier trim. This 4x4 still features it's original paint and graphics on a
straight 100% rustfree western body. It is a great running
and driving 4x4. It has a 351 engine, with a recent valve job, and a 4
speed with a nice feeling clutch. Other options include power steering, power disc
brakes, limited slip 3.50 rear axle, dual fuel tanks, locking hood release, etc.
It has a Dana 44 front axle, the bullet proof NP205 transfer case. Overall
this is a very nice survivor. The front seat is cracked from heat and
age, but the foam is nice and it sits nice and firm.
I have personally used this truck. I love how it drives and I would
drive it anyplace.
Also, The odometer only reads
68,080. My dad taught me years ago that one can tell if the odometer
has rolled over by how straight the digits are. The original miles
read nice and straight, but once it rolls over they have some misalignment.
I can't prove it but the previous owner said they were original. It
also still has the original exhaust on it to further support that the miles
might be original. I included a picture of the muffler with FORD
stamped into it. Either way this is a nice one of a kind survivor type
4x4. They are getting harder to find all the time.
