Very rare and desirable short bed step side 4x4.  This is a 1979 Ford F150 4x4.  This truck is 99% rustfree from the west coast, and still features much of it's original paint.  In over 25 years dealing in 4x4's, I have only had 3 step sides.  This was the last and best year of the 73 - 79 body style.  This one features a strong and smooth 400, and a nice shifting rebuilt C6.  The trans was rebuilt several years back but has had less than 1000 miles put on it.  It also has power steering, and power disc brakes.  These were the last of Ford's heavy duty half ton 4x4's.  They still had straight axle Dana 44 fronts, NP 205 transfer cases, and 9" rears.  It also has conservative 3.50 axles.  One other neat feature of this truck is that is has factory dual tanks.  That is unique for a step side.

This 4x4 runs and drives real nice.  It hasn't been cut,  lifted, or off roaded.  The brakes, suspension and exhaust are all sound.

I call it 99% rustfree because the drivers floor has some rust in it, as does the front bottom lip of the bed floor where the wood floor sits.  Some of the seems also have surface rust. This is all very common even on western 4x4's.  About all the 79 and older fords get floor board rust of some sort.  Once the jute padding on the back of the carpet or rubber mat gets wet, it doesn't dry out very well and the floor will rust from the inside out.  A new floor pan is under $30, and not a tough job for a body shop.  The passengers floor is fine.   The pass side rear fender is dented some but it would easily work out.

This truck could be enjoyed just how it sits, but would be nice all restored.   It has a piece of plywood bolted into the bed floor using the factory mounts.  The seat sits nice the the material has split and cracked due to age, so we put on a nice slip-on cover.

These trucks just aren't around much in clean original condition anymore.  My team of buyers or myself can hardly find clean original pre 80 Fords anymore.  That is why you are seeing more and more newer stuff on the website.  If your looking for something like this don't hesitate they sell fast and sure aren't getting any easier to find.  Thanks for looking!
